Yeah, yeah... we know - you hate Java. We're not incredibly fond of it either, but using it gave us the capability of supporting as many platforms as possible. Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris and Linux all support Java - which means that we could concentrate on developing something that worked for everybody, and then concentrate on making platform specific clients and sales servers.
We continue to improve the technology - once the API/technology platform has stabilized, we plan to release native implementations of the core Bitmunk Transaction Engine.
The core communication mechanism employed by Bitmunk is standards-based XML, SOAP, SSL, X.509 and TCP/IP. We have opened the communication procotols up so that others may develop specialized clients and sales servers for Bitmunk. If you are a developer, this means that you can create a client for Bitmunk. Use Python, Perl, C#, Lisp or whatever suits you - you can even charge money via Bitmunk for use of your client to cover your development costs.
We want people to develop their own Bitmunk clients to operate on the network - thus we will be releasing a comprehensive set of tools and utilities to help inter-operate with our technology.
