Sales Servers and Network Address Translation

Introduction

You can run any Bitmunk Sales Server Software from behind a firewall or Network Adress Translator (NAT). In general, the software will use any Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) device to connect to the internet and open the appropriate ports. This means that the software will perform configuration automatically if it can. If no UPnP devices are found on the network, the software and your firewall will need to be configured manually.

Universal Plug and Play

If you are using a UPnP-aware router or firewall, you won't need to perform any configuration of your Sales Server software.

Manual Configuration

You must make sure that you re-direct one port from the firewall to the computer that is running your Bitmunk Sales Server:

Port 8174 - Bitmunk port

If your firewall has the IP address 55.55.55.55 and your Sales Server behind the firewall has the IP address 10.10.10.10, you will want to redirect like so:

55.55.55.55 port 8174 -> 10.10.10.10 port 8174

That's it!
